An Extra Hour

Do you like switching between DST (daylight savings time) and EDT (eastern standard time)?  I'm not a fan...I prefer EST...I particularly don't like springing forward and loosing an hour...but my body seems to be more in tune with EST.  I think it's funny that everyone says you get an extra hour of sleep when we fall back...why presume it's an extra hour of sleep?...I actually wake up as usual, get out of bed and find myself with an extra hour to use during the day.   I've always been an early to bed early to rise kind of girl, maybe that has something to do with it.  I can't say I've done anything special with my extra hour today, but I have noticed the difference in the suns position relative to the clock...we were finally waking with some light in the sky, and the sun has already reached the other side of the mountain to our west, limiting the suns rays to the distant mountains.  I spotted the sun causing my glass decorations to sparkle just before it dipped behind the mountain, I thought you might enjoy them...

I always thought DST was established to assist farmers, but after reading this National Geographic article, I learned it began in Germany during WWI to save coal for the war effort, and "in 1918 the US implemented a federal law standardizing the start and end of DST for those states choosing to implement it".

Did you do anything special with your extra hour today?

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

Sleep. I am not a fan because it gets dark so early. Getting home to the cabin before dark in winter is a challenge. We don't travel on the lake after dark, so some times we are forced to stay in town. That's OK, but not what we would prefer to do. - Margy

I am not a fan of changing the time, especially now that the change to EST is so late in the year. I would prefer Standard Time year round.

One wise person said, "Only the Federal Government can think that you can cut a foot off the top of the blanket and sew it on to the bottom and get a longer blanket."

As far as I am concerned, we could drop this charade! One good thing, I get up earlier every morning...so in a way, I have gained an hour each day! Hugs!
