Really? No Snow?

I had great hope yesterday that we would see our first snow (I would have been happy with flurries).  My preferred weather resource for our area is Local Yokel Weather and snow was in the forecast...the morning sky showed the front rolling in and the air was crisp and smelled of snow...
...but as the day progressed, blue skies refused to relinquish their stake and by the end of the day what remained was slightly hazy sky with resplendent moon peeking through the bare branches...

...all I could think was "really? no snow?"...but it's hard to feel like Mother Nature gave us a raw deal when the night sky provides such a restorative scene.

This morning, when I looked out the window, the Rhododendron reflected how raw it was outside (see the leaves curled so tightly?...they only do this when the temperature is below 20 degrees..between 32 and 20 the leaves remain more open) and sure enough, the thermometer read 10.6F.  We may not have had snow, but it sure resembled winter!

Visit ABCWednesday for more interesting "R" posts, and many thanks to Denise Nesbitt, who created ABC, and Roger, who took over from her.

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,

Beautiful shots! I've never seen rhodo leaves like that before. I think snow is forecast for us this weekend, but I hope it stays away!

Love the mountain view! Once I lived in a house with a huge rhododendron, and I can't remember the leaves looking like that in winter! Thanks for sharing:)

I haven't seen rhododendron leaves like that either! Was it below 20 degrees Centigrade? In that case it must have been freezing.
We still have rain and wind.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a great week!

Yesterday, I was at my allergists office, which is near my work office. The receptionist was there until 8:30 the night before and was complaining about the snow squalls there. Other people in the hilltowns around here have had snow; I see it on their cars. I've seen NONE to date.

Snow! Wow! It hit 85 degrees here in San Ramon yesterday - way too hot for this time of year. Send some of your cold air our way. What beautiful scenes you're sharing here. It is funny how those leaves curl up to protect themselves from the chill. Enjoy the day!

That 10.6 F reading sent chills up and down my spine and sent me running for my flannel shirt. Hugs!

Thanks for your comments everyone!

Susie, if we both think snow and click our heels together maybe it will!

Dad, I know...it's even cold for us! Hugs back:)
