Battling Hummingbirds

We have several Ruby-throated Hummingbirds (counted 4 for sure, maybe 5 so far) that come to the many feeders hanging around the cabin.  They are beautiful and interesting little birds with their beautiful ruby throats and green/yellow bodies...extremely fast, always hungry and not very nice to each other...they are so territorial that they actually will attack each other while feeding!  I've been watching this for days, trying to capture some good pictures of them...here are a few.  I'm still watching and trying to capture the actual "attacks" but they move so quickly it's almost impossible.

This is a video I took of them battling, I'm still trying to get a better one, but this will give you a little peak into their aggressiveness...(if you receive this by email, you may need to click on the post title to go to my blog page to see the video).  I hope you enjoy it!

I'm posting early today because I'm heading to help and participate in Ron & Bertie's auction...much more about my first auction experience tomorrow!

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

Love the hummingbird photos...and the video. We also enjoy them very much but alas they don't seem to like our area of the west coast of Florida...we have not been able to attract them to our home. Hugs!

We do have quite a few things in common Lise ~ we love and feed "our" Hummingbirds too ~ I can sit on my porch and hear them flutter before I even see them ~ Tiny little creatures bringing much entertainment! Just one of life's simple pleasures ~ Enjoy the weekend ~ Judi
