Our Carolina Wren and Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds

I just realized I never published this post...this was Thursday, July 11th's post...

This male Carolina Wren is building a nest under our porch (click on the link to learn more abut them).  I've noticed a smaller Carolina Wren around and I'm assuming that is his mate, but she is much more shy than he is.
I know this is the male because he is singing and only the male Carolina Wren sings (unlike other wrens).
This is likely their first nest of the year, and they usually have 1 to 3 broods.  Their nest is inside an open storage compartment on the top of a hose storage unit...
...underneath our front porch...

Johny has aimed our critter cam at the nest...I'm hoping we get some good pictures of the eggs, her nesting and the brood...you know I'll be sharing it if we do.

As for hummingbirds, few days ago I wrote and shared pictures about the territorial nature of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.  This morning I was reading Vicki Lane's blog and she has some phenomenal pictures that captured what I attempted to...click on her name to see them, you'll be glad you did!  FYI, Vicki Lane is one of my favorite local authors...I highly recommend her mysteries!

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise
