Today's Find

First, I'd like to give my respects to all those families who lost loved ones during the 9/11 tragedy.  It's hard to believe it was 12 years ago today that such an unspeakable horror occurred...I still remember exactly where I was, as I'm sure everyone does...it was a day none of us will ever forget.  The National September 11 Memorial to remember and honor all those who lost their lives, you can click on the link to read more.

I spent today browsing thrift and antique stores with my friends Andrea and Sharon...we had a great day filled with fun and laughter.  I did come across this awesome pestle for my cone strainer...
...my friend Bertie gave me the strainer, but I needed the pestle and lo and behold I found one today!  You use them together to mash fruit or vegetables for making jams or canning.
Now I just need to find a stand or a tall, wide necked jar to hold it.  I can't wait to try it!

We also came across this watchman at a small stand on the side of the road...
...scary fellow, especially with his arm twisted backwards!  He made us all laugh, especially since he was the only "person" keeping an eye on the place...the sign on the shop wall said 'gone pickin'.

Have you ever used a cone strainer and pestle?  What goodies have you created with it?

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

Yes I've used a cone strainer for years. Tonight I even used the prestal to smash crackers in a bowl, to make crumbs for meatloaf.

Actually we bought a food mill a couple of years ago so the ole strainer sets pretty idle .

Ha ha Patti, technology has a way of making life a little easier! I keep moving in the direction of the old ways...at least to give them a try for a while!

Hugs back dad:)
