It's Amazing What Happens to a Garden With Sun & Rain for 2 Weeks!

There is a point along highway I-26, heading west, where the first sighting of the mountains of North Carolina are in the distance; it is always a thrill to see that first glimpse.  Today, I cried with joy, literally.  I was filled with such emotion for being back where I know I belong.  Don't get me wrong, I love my girls and Liam, and seeing all my friends...but deep in my soul, I know this is the place for me.

A couple hours after that, I was home.  The weather was perfect, cool, breezy, blue sky.  As soon as Mountain Man and I greeted each other (really nice to see each other again), unloaded the car and unpacked my bags (no, not everything, just my clothes and essentials), we were off so I could see the garden.

I gasped as I rounded the bend, oh my, how things have grown!  None of this was here before I left...

My favorite picture of the day, do you know what this is?  Read on to find out...

Cherokee tomatoes...
Purple potatoes...

The three sisters garden looks amazing, the corn is as tall as I am, the squash is spreading and the beans are climbing!

There are at least 2 different squash that I can tell so far (we planted 4 different winter varieties, don't recall them specifically right now, something like jet lag)...

We have corn!  Two varieties (you got it, I don't recall right now, jet lag still)...the silk is so amazingly beautiful and delicate!
This is the corn tassel, the flower, so to speak, that does the pollinating...
This is another new corn, the silk is pink/...love it!
This is another new beginning of a corn, it is so beautiful...
...I had to get even closer!  Just amazing to me...look at all those little hairs...did you know your corn silk had hairs?  And now you know, these are corn silk hairs!

I am so thrilled with the progress here, Mountain Man did an awesome job overseeing everything.  I am really happy to be back, home sweet home!  I am so grateful for my log cabin life!

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

I know you had a great time visiting in Florida. But I'm so happy that you are thrilled to be home. I enjoyed reading about your visit to Florida, but I think the mountain is your home.
btw...it looks like acorn and butternut squash to me

I know Susie, I am so excited to see everything growing so beautifully! I'll look into the corn, thanks for the tip!

I agree Patti:)

Mitch, you are right...this definitely is my home, and those squash do look like butternut and acorn...easier to distinguish this morning after some sleep:)
