Home Again

Yesterday is the first drive from the river to our cabin that I drove past snow.  It started in South Carolina, lining the roads and beautifully coating the landscape, but it also downed trees all along the highway (lots of snow/ice from the recent storm obviously was too much for them).  It made me glad I postponed my return for a few days, or I would have been driving through it.  This is what greeted me when I got home...

And these...
...even though I wasn't here for Valentine's Day, my Valentine didn't forget me!

Today we created Cool Hat Luke (Johny's decision) in celebration of Johny's birthday today...
...love the pipe and hat made of wood!

And I made this for the birthday boy, one of his favorites, chocolate cream pie...

...it was a surprise...though he could smell something happening in the kitchen, can't hide that in this small space...and when he finally saw it he grinned and cheered "chocolate cream pie!".  It's so simple to make.  I use pudding mix but I use fresh (real) whipped cream with a little almond extract for half the milk requirement, which makes it very smooth and creamy then mix in some shaved dark chocolate and mini semi-sweet morsels.  Drizzle (or glob in a few spots here) with a little melted chocolate and you have birthday pie!  Happy Birthday my love, glad you like your birthday cake!

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

Thanks Patti!

Vicki, I'm sure there's more where those came from!

Marie, that sounds like a good birthday tradition.

Thanks dad. Tonight we are going out for his birthday dinner, had to wait because the place he wants to go is wasn't open until today. Hugs back
