Soaking It All In

This morning's sun worked hard to break through...

...but rain filled clouds kept the river dark and wet all morning...I even heard a rumble of thunder far in the distance at one point.

But I'm not complaining, because it was perfect weather to force me to slow down and appreciate the little things surrounding me here on the river.  It's our last day here, and I wanted to soak in everything I could!  So in between rain showers, I walked around.

This is our pond swing...I love swinging here, listening to the trickle of the water and watching the little Swordtails swim around.

We have Chameleons everywhere, this one is making himself at home in a bird house.

This orchid is about 6" wide and is growing on a tree in our back yard (I have all my orchids in that tree).  This first photo has no flash...I like the way the natural light illuminates some of the petals...
...this photo is with flash...the detail is a little clearer and the colors a little richer...

This is one of our fountains in the back yard...yes, I like to have the sound of water everywhere!  I love it's weathered, rustic look, including the old wooden picket fence behind it, and the added splash of color from the bromeliads.

I will miss this place; I feel the same melancholy way I used to feel when we'd go visit the cabin for a couple weeks and then had to leave.  Oh, I know I'll be happy once I am back at the cabin, but I sure have enjoyed the river!  I must admit, as the day progressed, and the humidity weighed heavily in the air, I found myself glad to be returning to the mountains where humidity makes itself scarce during the winter.  I am looking forward to inhaling that crisp, cool air!!!

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise
