Nodding Ladies' Tresses

Yes, I am back at the cabin:)  Woo hoo!

On the way to the garden this afternoon, Mountain Man pointed out a small wild field of these delightful Nodding Ladies' Tresses...they are late blooming orchids, the like of which I have never seen before.  They grow freely about in the grass, making a small field, and are about a foot tall.  They are a lovely, bright surprise this time of year.  But up close...they are spectacular!  I'll start your journey with a close up, so you can see the marvelous details of this tiny bloom (each delicate bloom is about 1/4 to 1/2 inch big)...
This is the same photo, only not cropped as close so you can see how they grow on the stalk.
This is the original photo that I cropped for the first two photos above.
This is a new photo, capturing a portion of the small field.  There are about 20 additional stems surrounding this area.  What a pleasant welcome home surprise nature has given me!

Oh yes, as I knew would be the case, there were lots of beans to harvest and the leaves are indeed changing!

The mountains are not yet ablaze with color, but you can see the transition beginning.  Many leaves have already fallen, I was surprised by how many there were lining the road as I headed up the mountain (but there are still lots in the trees).

I am happy to be back, and it isn't just about the beans and the leaves!  There's no place like home!

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,

The changing of the leaves are always so enjoyable.
Last night we dug our two hills of sweet potatoes, we got a total of 4 potatoes, so small not enough for a meal.

Beautiful little orchids...and the photo of the green beans and red leaves is frameable. Glad you had a safe trip back to the "Log Cabin". Mountain Man must be a happy man now with his "lady" by his side! Hugs!
