Wish You Could've Been Here

I usually carry my camera everywhere I go...I've learned the hard way that awesome photo ops often present themselves when I don't have it.  Which is exactly what happened this morning...more about that, but first...

I've spent my day taking care of a list of chores (I did have my camera at this point), the kind of stuff that isn't really fun but it must be done.  Most of my tasks were outdoors, presenting great photo ops (slowed me down a bit because I had to remove my gloves and make sure no dirt or sweat would get on/in my camera, but I was glad for the mini break each time...I found it extremely hot and humid this morning).  Here are a few of my finds today...

This is a dainty dayflower, which only blooms for 1 day and in fact, here on the river, it was gone by mid afternoon...I guess it was too hot for it, growing all over our yard (we have them around the cabin too). I especially like how the sun makes the petals look like they are sparkling!

It's been so long since I've seen the blooms from our bromeliads, I can't remember what this will look like once the buds open.  But I like it just the way it is!

We have two pineapples, they are lookin' good!

I watched the sun struggling to break through the early morning clouds as I walked today...I wish the clouds had hung around long enough for me to finish my chores!
This Heron has been in the same spot along the river each time I have passed by, but when I walk closer to get a good pic, he always flies away.  I was ready for him this morning, catching him in flight.

One of my tasks was to clear the dock of everything that might get blown away or dropped into the river if the dock gets destroyed, IF we have a big storm (hurricane prep, just in case).  Since I was going to be moving things off the dock and hammering a few nails, I decided not to take my camera.  Yes, I was well aware of my past experience with not having my camera, but I didn't want to accidentally loose it in the river.  Naturally, an amazing picture op presented itself...I heard a little rustling of the water and looking just to my left, where the water is still shallow, and I saw the tip of a dolphin's fin 6 feet way.  It was moving slowly toward me, I'm supposing looking for some breakfast.  It swam right in front of me, rolled itself a little (looked to me like it was trying to avoid having it's fin hit the bottom of the dock), and then appeared on the other side of the dock. It meandered around for a bit when I heard a small splash...there was a second dolphin about 20 feet away and in deeper water...it seemed to motion with it's head to the one near me "come on, let's go", and the one near me followed!  Oh how I wish I could have captured those moments with my camera to share with you, but I really enjoyed watching them.  I sure wish you could've been here (I hope my description helps you visualize it)!

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

Such a pity that you had left your camera at home.
Thanks for your visit. I don't know what the V on the cap of my grandson means. Sorry!
