Planting in the Rain

Try, try again.  Planting corn that is.  Some vile creature is eating my corn seeds and leaving the tender sprouts to die!  I now have to replant in order to be able to have a successful Three Sisters area.  The critter cam has yet to capture the varmint, so that leads me to believe it is a very small critter, squirrel or smaller.  Because we have planted the corn in stages now, we will have to do the same with the beans and squash, but I suppose it is a good thing, forces succession planting, ha ha.

So today, in the rain, we planted more corn.  I also planted celery because I had not done that yet and we use a lot of it; I put it in the row where the mache was planted, it doesn't look like any of that has germinated (too bad, love mache, an excellent salad leaf).  We may also be adding a few other things, because only one row of peppers are germinating, and only one fava (broad) bean has germinated...we'll make that decision in a few days.  But I digress.  While out there, the critter cam caught us, I didn't realize it was still up...some funny pictures...FYI, we are not the vile creature:)

...looks like a dance step...

...Mountain Man covering the corn with dirt, this is a stick assist:)...
...best sides?...

Then I spotted this guy in the garden, and when I looked him up on the Internet, he is a green stink bug, and guess what, they like to eat the seeds of, among other things...corn & beans!...argh!...enough for me, he is going to be relocated and if he comes back, bye bye!  I don't generally squash things in nature (meaning eliminate/stomp upon/eradicate), but it better kindly leave outa here right quick!!! I'm aready to fight fist and skull I tell you!
(even if this isn't the exact varmint, could be one of many...has got to go!)

On the bright side, rain covered rhododendron and daisy's on the walk from the garden...

In closing, today is our 6th Anniversary.  We are heading out to dinner at On The Veranda.  We have been there once before, it's a favorite fine dining spot for us, and being that this will be the first time we have been out to dinner since we have been living at the cabin, I am really looking forward to it!  No real reason for that, other than we just have not had the desire.  Big yeah for me...in addition to the lovely evening, NO DISHES TO WASH!  Happy Dancing:)

With that said, I am posting earlier than usual today...enjoy the rest of your day, we will:)!
Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

Hi Lise, we had critters coming at night and they upturned our flowers, not to eat them, but to get the grubs in the soil. We found out they were raccoons. We had to "relocate" them as well.Love your photographs.
