Pecking Guinea Fowl

I came across a flock of Guinea Fowl foraging in the woods on my way to the mailbox today...they belong to one of our neighbors a bit down the mountain from us and I believe will make good eatin' for them some day but that's another story...they were busy pecking away at little niblin's hidden beneath the leaves in the woods and every now and then squawking noisily at each other.

When this guy noticed me he started balking and screeching and encouraging the others to move on...
...which they did...
...slowly, very slowly.  I'm glad I didn't disturb their supper!

It made me happy to live in a place where wildlife roams freely.  Life is good here in the mountains!

Thanks for reading my blog, you are the best f/f/f/r/s/f's, see you tomorrow,
Lise

You got some really good photos of them. My mom used to have them and for some reason they always loved the main road where all the cars had to slow down or hit them. Needless, to say she lost alot of them. I personally don't like the noise they make. LOL. Hugs.

Love the way they cry 'Potterack!" They lay nice eggs too but they usually hide the nests real well.

I always heard guineas were good to take care of the chigger population. You got chiggers in your woods?

Susie, these guys do venture into the road sometimes, but they usually stay in the woods. Their squawk is quite loud, I can see how it would be unpleasant if you had to listen to it all the time. Hugs to you!

I've never heard them sound like Potterack Vicki, I'll have to listen for that!

Patti, I ought to invite these guys over to our area then, because we do have chiggers, LOL!

I know Margy, they make me laugh when I think about that...almost like a cartoon!

Hugs back dad!
